ASUS announced the ROG Phone 3 in various markets including India in July. Recent reports have suggested that the Taiwanese firm may launch the ROG Phone 5 in March in China. Fresh information shared by tipster Mukul Sharma reveals that the smartphone will also be debuting in India in March.
So far, reports have revealed that the ROG Phone 5 could be arriving in Chinese markets in two versions such as ASUS_I005DA and ASUS_I005DB. Both phones have appeared with limited specs at TENAA. However, their images that have surfaced at TENAA suggest that the I005DB could be a stripped-down version of the I005DA model.
Both phones measure 172.834 x 77.252 x 10.29mm and house a 6.78-inch OLED display. The rear shell of the I005DA model seems to feature a 1.9-inch secondary display on its back along with RGB-lit ROG log and Tencent Games logo. These logos and secondary screen do not seem to be present on the I005DB. Both phones appear to be equipped with dual front-firing speakers.
Both devices seem to be packed with a 6,000mAh dual-cell battery. The I005DA model is expected to arrive with support for 65W fast charging.
The ROG Phone 5 (I005DA) will be powered by the Snapdragon 888 mobile platform and its screen is expected to support up to 144Hz refresh rate. It is expected to arrive with 64-megapixel triple camera system. It is unclear whether the I005DB model will come with the same cameras and chipset.
At present, there is no word on the pricing of the ROG Phone 5 series. There is no confirmation on whether ASUS will be launching both variant of the ROG Phone 5 in India.
