After months of anticipation, ASUS has finally announced the long-rumored Zenfone 8z in the Indian market during a high profile launch event held in the country. While the phone was launched under the Zenfone 8z branding, it’s pretty much the same model as the ASUS Zenfone 8 (Review) which was launched in the global market last year.
Right off the bat, the ASUS Zenfone 8z with comes with a petite 5.9” AMOLED display that brings along a FHD+ screen resolution and a slightly higher 120Hz refresh rate. Furthermore, it’s also HDR10+ certified and features an impressive peak brightness of 800 nits.
In the imaging department, the phone features a dual-cam setup at the back consisting of a 64 megapixels Sony IMX686 main camera and a 12 megapixels Sony IMX363 ultra-wide unit to help with landscape photography. As for selfies, there’s also a 12 megapixels Sony IMX663 shooter upfront as well.
To provide an immersive audio experience for it’s users, the ASUS Zenfone 8 rocks an impressive stereo speakers system that’s aided by a dual Cirrus Logic (CS35L45) mono amplifiers with Dirac HD optimization. Most importantly, it also boasts a highly coveted 3.5mm headphone jack that we don’t usually see among flagship phones.
Under the hood, the ASUS Zenfone 8z is also backed by a flagship Snapdragon 888 mobile platform which is coupled with 8GB RAM and 1286GB onboard storage in the memory department.
To keep its light on, the device is fitted with a 4,000mAh battery with 30W fast-charging support. Software-wise, the phone will also be shipped with the custom ZenUI 8 based on Android 11 OS out of the box.
For those who’re interested, the ASUS Zenfone 8z is available in both Obsidian Black and Horizon Silver colorways, and is priced at INR42,999 (US$570) in the Indian market.
