Recently, the temporary general license issued by the U.S. Commerce Department for Huawei had expired, raising serious concerns whether the current Huawei smartphones will be able to continue receiving future software updates and security patches.
Hi there, thank you for your message. There is no impact on existing devices. We will continue to share security and software updates to our devices, as we always have. If you have any questions, please let us know via DM.

Thankfully, Huawei had clarified on this issue via a reply to a concerned Huawei user on Twitter. According to Huawei, the expiration of the temporary general license will have “no impact on existing devices” and the company will “continue to share security and software updates” to their devices as usual.
This is definitely a much needed assurance for Huawei smartphone users who’re holding on to a GMS-based device released before May 16, 2019.
