Galaxy J2 Core Could be Samsung’s First Android Go Phone

Well-known tipster Roland Quandt has claimed that Samsung could be working on its first Android Go phone. The rumored device has appeared on Geekbench with a model number of SM-J260G. Unconfirmed sources have revealed that the SM-J260G may get official with Galaxy J2 Core moniker. The Galaxy J2 (2018)’s model number is SM-J250. Hence, the Galaxy J2 Core name is the closest guess for SM-J260G.

Android Go is Google’s initiative to bring low-priced Android phones running on the latest version of Android to emerging markets. Some of the specs of the SM-J260G that have been revealed through its listing on Geekbench include “universal7570_Go” processor, 1 GB of RAM and Android 8.1 Oreo. Even though it is mentioned as 8.1 Oreo, the handset is likely to run on Go edition of the OS.

Samsung Galaxy J2 Core Geekbench

It is speculated that the Galaxy J2 Core could be powered by Exynos 7570 SoC that includes an quad-core processor that clocks at 1.43 GHz. In the single-core test, the smartphone has recorded a score of 625. In the multi-core test, it has score of 1747.

As of this writing, there is no information on the other specs of the phone. Hence, it is too early to comment on its pricing. Since it is an Android Go phone, it could be priced lower than $100.
