Google Pixel 5 Live Shots Appear; Reveals Pixel 5s Moniker

Last month, Google announced the Pixel 4a midrange phone with a starting price of $349. At some point this month or in October, the company is expected to formally announce the Pixel 4a (5G) and Pixel 5 smartphones. The Pixel 4a (5G) is expected to arrive with a design similar to the Pixel 4a since it will be arriving as its 5G version. However, none of the leaks have revealed the design of the Pixel 5. A new leak courtesy of Jose Antonia Ponton who is a Mexican radio host has shared liv shots of the Pixel 5 handset.

In the leaked shot, the Pixel 5 can be seen sporting a square-shaped camera module. It comprises of an LED flash, a flicker sensor, a wide-angle lens and a main camera. A fingerprint scanner is also available on the backside of the smartphone. The logo of the brand can be also seen towards the bottom of the back panel. The edge of the phone has a volume rocker and a power button.

In all likelihood, the Pixel 5 handset show in the live shots could be an early prototype. The frontal image of the device shows the ‘About phone’ screen. The device is seen running on Android R, which seems to be an early version of the device.

The name of the device is mentioned as Pixel 5s., which indicates that it could be a variant of the Pixel 5. There are speculations that it could be a 5G version without mmWave 5G. It was revealed through the FCC certification earlier, that out of the four Pixel 5 units, the ones having GD1YQ and G6QU3 model names will support mmWave and sub-6GHz 5G networks.

The leak has no information on the specifications of the Google Pixel 5. The device is speculated to arrive with a pricing of $649.
