Here is our first look at the vanilla Huawei P50

Earlier this week, well-accredited leaker Steve Hemmerstoffer kicked off the leak season for the upcoming Huawei P50 series smartphone by offering us a first look at the Huawei P50 Pro weeks ahead of its launch.

Now, the famed leaker is back once again with fresh CAD-based renderings of the vanilla Huawei P50, which revealed several notable differences from the higher-end P50 Pro model.

Much like its P50 Pro counterpart, the Huawei P50 will arrive with a central hole-punch design for its front panel instead of having the huge pill-shape cutout on the upper-left corner like we saw on last year’s Huawei P40. The key difference between the P50 and P50 Pro is that the former has a flat panel, while the latter has a curved one.

According to Steve, the vanilla Huawei P50 actually measures 156.7 x 74 x 8.3mm which is surprisingly larger than the P50 Pro which is tipped to have an overall dimension of 159 x 73 x 8.6 mm. Its front display is however, slightly smaller at 6.3” as compared to the 6.6” display size on the P50 Pro.

On the rear side, it looks pretty much similar as the P50 Pro with a gigantic, oval-shaped camera housing of which the actual configuration remains under wrapped. Recent reports however, seem to suggest that the P50 series could be the first in the world to feature the long-rumored 1” Sony IMX800 sensor.

As usual, its rear panel is said to be made of glass which is surely more preferable over a plastic back. Likewise, it also features a metal frame around the edge of the device and sports a dual speakers on the top and bottom frame.

No doubt, the upcoming P50 series smartphones will be powered by the latest Kirin 9000 chipset just like the Huawei Mate 40 Pro (Review). However, the availability of the P50 series devices may actually be limited due to the shortage of chips.
