We are finally less than a week away from the official unveiling of the highly-anticipated OnePlus 8 flagship series. However, much have already been known about the OnePlus 8 series smartphones including their design as well as official specs courtesy of several high profile leaks during the past few weeks.
Recently, OnePlus CEO Pete Lau had confirmed that the OnePlus 8 series smartphones will cost less than US$1,000, but its actual price remains a mystery. Now, thanks to German publisher Winfuture.de, we are now able to have some reliable information pertaining to their actual pricing.
According to the publisher, the OnePlus 8 5G (8GB+128GB) will be priced at around 719/ 729 Euros in Europe depending on the countries. It will also have a 12GB+256GB model which will be priced at 819/ 829 Euros.
As for the OnePlus 8 Pro 5G, the device will be priced at 919/ 929 Euros for its 8GB+128GB model, and 1009/ 1019 Euros for the buffed up 12GB+256GB model. Certainly, the price structure for the latest OnePlus 8 series smartphones is considerably higher than that of its OnePlus 7T predecessors.
The main reason behind its inflated price tag, according to OnePlus CEO Pete Lau , is due to the adoption of 5G which had increased technical complexity of 5G which make it’s more challenging in designing and configuring the new generation’s smartphones. Moreover, the prices of raw materials and 5G chips across the supply chains have increased as well.
Despite that, the OnePlus 8 Pro is still relatively cheaper than most recently announced flagships including the OPPO Find X2 Pro and Samsung Galaxy S20+ 5G.
