Last week, we’d just gotten a glimpse of the upcoming Sony Xperia 10 III courtesy of notorious leaker Steve Hemmerstoffer. Fast-forward one week, he’s now back with another set of CAD renderings of the new Sony Xperia Compact.
For those who may not know, Sony used to release a line of high-end compact smartphones that bears the Compact moniker. However, ever since the company launched the Xperia XZ2 Compact back in MWC 2017, we have yet to a new successor from the Xperia Compact series.
No doubt, things will soon be changing since Steve had already unofficially “announced” its return even before Sony has a chance to tease on this upcoming handset.
However, before we get too excited, we have to bear in mind that the device is likely to be more of a mid-ranger rather than a flagship phone this time round.
According to the information published, the forthcoming Xperia Compact will feature a 5.5-inches front display, and has an overall footprint measuring around 140 x 68.9 x 8.9 mm. As such, it is comparatively larger than the current iPhone 12 Mini.
Unlike most other Xperia smartphones that comes with a thick upper bezels, the new Sony Xperia Compact will be settling for a dewdrop-notch design for its selfie camera which is said to be an 8 megapixels shooter.
Over on its rear, we will be greeted by the usual elongated camera island similar to what we normally see on a Xperia smartphone. It will be a dual-camera setup consisting of a 13 megapixels primary shooter as well as a secondary snapper.
Along the left frame of the device, you can find a volume rocker, fingerprint scanner, as well as a shutter button for clicking images. Most importantly, there’s also a 3.5mm headphone jack located at the base of the device along with an USB-C port.
As of now, there still isn’t any words on its official launch. However, its likely to be made official during the first-halve of the year.
