Honor’s next big foldable phone, the Magic V5, may be just around the corner. According to Honor’s Flagship Mobile Product Manager Li Kun, the company is preparing to release its next-generation large-screen foldable in the first half of 2025. The statement was shared on Weibo and supported by additional details from tipster Experience More.
Honor Magic V5 to launch in June
Li Kun hinted that the launch would take place within the first half of the year and added that Honor aims to lead the industry in terms of slim and lightweight design. This strongly suggests a June unveiling in China. Tipster Experience More echoed the same, confirming that June is the only window left in the first half.
According to the tipster, the Magic V5 will feature the Snapdragon 8 Elite chip – the full-core version – making it the second known foldable this year with the new flagship processor after the Oppo Find N5, which houses a 7-core version.
An Honor phone with model number MHB-AN00 was recently approved by Chinese certification platforms, such as 3C and MIIT last week. These listings revealed that the Magic V5 will house a dual-cell 6,000mAh+ battery (2070mAh + 3880mAh) with 66W charging support. It will also support Beidou satellite messaging but skip satellite voice calls, which was available on the predecessor model. It is tipped to arrive in two shades, such as Silk Road Dunhuang and Velvet Black.
Honor is expected to highlight the Magic V5’s ultra-thin profile, reportedly starting with the number 8, making it thinner than the upcoming Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7, which is rumored to fold down to 8.9mm.
As per other reports, the Magic V5 will have a 6.45-inch LTPO OLED outer screen and a large 8-inch 2K 120Hz inner display. On the camera front, leaks suggest a triple setup with a 50-megapixel primary lens with OIS, an ultra-wide camera, and a 200-megapixel periscope telephoto shooter. Additional features may include wireless charging, IPX8-rated water resistance, and a side-mounted fingerprint scanner.
