Huawei Mate 40E launched with Kirin 990E & 64MP Triple-cameras

Following the launch of the Huawei Mate 40 series smartphones back in October last year, Huawei is now back with yet another Mate 40 series smartphone known as the Huawei Mate 40E. In terms of specs, this device is positioned below the vanilla Mate 40 and is currently the most affordable model within the Mate 40 series lineup.

On the outside, the Huawei Mate 40E shares a largely similar design as the rest of the Mate 40 series smartphones. It sports a curved, hole-punch OLED display at the front which measures 6.5-inches diagonally. The front display offers a FHD+ screen resolution as well as supports a smooth 90Hz screen refresh rate and has an impressive 240Hz touch sampling rate. On top of that, there’s also an in-display fingerprint scanner as well.

Over at the back, the Huawei Mate 40E sports the same “Space Ring” design for its camera system. There will be a total of three cameras at the back which is lead by a 64 megapixels primary shooter alongside a 16 megapixels ultra-wide lens as well as an 8 megapixels telephoto lens which allows the device is able to achieve up to 3x optical zoom, 5x hybrid zoom and 30x digital zoom. Its camera system will be rounded out by a 13 megapixels unit upfront for selfie and video-calling purposes.

Unlike the rest of the Mate 40 series smartphones, the Huawei Mate 40E is powered by an octa-core Kirin 990E chipset which is also used in the recently announced Mate 30E. This will be paired with 8GB RAM as well as an option between 128GB or 256GB onboard storage in the memory department.

To keep its lights on, the device draws power from a 4,200mAh battery that comes with 40W SuperCharge support. On the software-side, the Huawei Mate 40E boots on the latest EMUI 11 based on Android 10 (AOSP version).

For those who’re interested, the device is available in a total of three different colorways including Black, White and Mystic Silver. In the Chinese market, the Huawei Mate 40E is currently priced at 4,599 Yuan (US$706_ and 5,099 Yuan (US$783) respectively for its 8GB+128GB and 8GB+256GB models.
