Huawei Mate Watch with Hongmeng OS Could be in Works

Huawei will be announcing the Huawei Mate 40 series of flagship phones in September or October this year. Fresh information reveals that the Chinese manufacturer will also announce the Huawei Mate Watch alongside the Mate 40 lineup.

The Chinese firm is selling various devices with Mate branding such as phones, notebooks, and tablets. Earlier this year, Huawei had trademarked the “Mate Watch” moniker. It appears that a smartwatch with Mate branding is in works at the Huawei camp.

According to a tipster, the Huawei Mate Watch will be the first smartwatch from the company to run on Hongmeng OS. He added that the device may debut on Chinese National Day i.e. Oct. 1. There is no word on the specifications of the device.

Also, there is less information available on the Huawei Mate 40 series. The lineup may include Mate 40 and Mate 40 Pro smartphones. The handsets could be powered by the 5nm Kirin 1000 SoC and these could be the first Huawei phones with 120Hz refresh rate supporting displays.

Rumors have it that the Chinese manufacturer is working on adding a new 108-megapixel lens with a largely enhanced optic on the Mate 40 and Mate 40 Pro. The inclusion of 9P free-form lens will allow the Huawei Mate 40 series to capture better shots than other 108-megapixel phones available in the market.

While the Huawei Mate 40 series is expected to launch in September or October, there are contradictory reports that its mass production could be delayed by 1 or 2 months. It is also being said that the Chinese firm aims to ship 8 million units of the Huawei Mate 40 series by Q4 this year.
