Huawei Mate X 5G and Mate Xs Announced in China

Huawei had launched the Huawei Mate X 5G foldable phone at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2019 tech trade show earlier this year. Finally, the Mate X has been introduced today in China. It will be available for buying starting from next month. The company also announced the Huawei Mate Xs foldable device that will go on sale in the coming year.

Huawei Mate X 5G has arrived with a price tag of 16,999 Yuan ($2,403) for its 8 GB RAM and 512 GB storage. This pricing makes it costlier than the Samsung Galaxy Fold foldable smartphone. Starting from 10:08 AM (local time), the Mate X 5G will be available for purchase in China from Nov. 15.

The Mate X 5G has a 6.6-inch full HD+ flexible OLED display on the front in the folded position. Its rear side when held folded offers a 6.38-inch display with 25:9 aspect ratio. When unfolded, it offers a tablet-like display of 8 inches. The rear side of the device has 40-megapixel + 8-megapixel +16-megapixel + 3D ToF quad camera setup. It is powered by Kirin 980 chipset. Its 4,500mAh battery supports 55W SuperCharge fast charging.

The Chinese firm also announced the more powerful Mate Xs foldable smartphone powered by Kirin 990 chipset. It will be arriving with 5G connectivity. However, there is no information on the other specs of the device. It is slated to go official in March 2020.
