Last month saw the debut of the budget-friendly Huawei Nova 8 SE smartphone. Reports have been claiming that the more powerful Nova 8 and Nova 8 Pro may debut in December. A recent leak even claimed that the Chinese firm will debut the remaining Nova 8 models on Dec. 23. Today, the company took to Weibo to confirm that it will indeed announce the new Nova 8 series smartphones on Dec. 23.
The official released by the brand not only confirms the launch date of the Nova 8 series, but also reveals its rear design. The image suggests that the expected Nova 8 and Nova 8 Pro phones may sport an oval-shaped camera module.
The rear camera design teased by the brand resembles with the below-shown leaked schematic that appeared last month. It is likely that both phones will be equipped with quad cameras on their back. In comparison, the Nova 8 SE featured a square-shaped camera housing for its 64-megapixel quad camera setup.
It is speculated that the Nova 8 could carry a starting price of 3,000 Yuan ($459). On the other side, the Nova 8 Pro may start at 4,000 Yuan ($612). Rumors have it that the company may also announce another phone called the Huawei Enjoy 20 SE alongside the new Nova 8 series smartphones. Back in August, Huawei launched the Watch Fit in global markets. The same device is also likely to launch in China on Dec. 23.
The Huawei Nova 8 and 8 Pro are expected to sport dual punch-hole displays. The Pro model’s screen may feature curved edges. These phones are rumored to support high refresh rates. It is unclear whether the Nova 8 series will be equipped with Dimensity or Kirin chipsets.
