Huawei Nova 8 SE goes official with Dimensity 800U, 64MP Quad cameras & 66W fast-charging

After launching the Huawei Nova 7 SE (Review), Huawei is now back with the next-generation’s Huawei Nova 8 SE which was officially announced in China today. Besides sporting a fresh design language, the all-new Huawei Nova 8 SE is also a huge departure from the Nova 7 SE in terms of specs.

Starting with the front, the Huawei Nova 8 SE builds around a 6.53-inches OLED display that boast a FHD+ screen resolution with support for DCI-P3 color gamut. Unlike the Huawei Nova 7 SE which features a hole-punch display, the new Nova 8 SE settles for a dewdrop-notch design instead.

In the camera department, there isn’t any huge distinction between the duo. The Huawei Nova 8 SE continues to flaunt a quad camera system comprising of a 64 megapixels (f/1.9 aperture) primary shooter, 8 megapixels (f/2.4 aperture) ultra-wide lens, 2 megapixels (f/2.4 aperture) macro camera, as well as a 2 megapixels (f/2.4 aperture) depth sensor. This will be rounded out by a 16 megapixels selfie camera at the front.

Strangely enough, the Huawei Nova 8 SE is offered in two different models which include a standard model with MediaTek Dimensity 720 chipset, as well as a higher-end model with Dimensity 800U chipset. Both models however, will arrive with the same memory configuration with 8GB RAM and 128GB onboard storage.

To keep its lights on, there’s a respectable 3,800mAh battery that comes with support for the latest Huawei’s 66W SuperCharge technology which first debut in the newly announced Huawe Mate 40 Pro. Other than that, the Nova 8 SE also features a 3.5mm headphone jack as well as an under display fingerprint scanner.

In the Chinese market, the Huawei Nova 8 SE will be priced at 2,599 Yuan (US$392) for the model with Dimensity 720 chipset, as well as 2,699 Yuan (US$407) for the higher-end model with Dimensity 800U chipset.
