Huawei Nova 8i Officially Announced with an Attractive Price Point

Huawei has officially unveiled the brand new Huawei Nova 8i smartphone during the APAC Summer Product Launch event earlier this evening. The Nova 8i will be first available in the Malaysian market where the phone is priced affordably at just RM1,299 (US$313) for it’s 8GB+128GB configuration.

On the outside, the Huawei Nova 8i shares a largely similar aesthetic as the company’s Mate 30 Pro flagship phone, sporting a sleek and elegant design that impresses all. The device features a vibrant 6.67” LCD display that offers a FHD+ screen resolution, DCI-P3 color gamut coverage, as well as second-generation’s hardware-enhanced blue light protection.

On top of that, the phone also boasts an ultra-immersive 94.7% screen-to-body ratio that offers a near full-screen experience for it’s users. The pill-shape cutout on the upper-left corner of the screen is also home to a 16 megapixels selfie camera.

Flipping the device over, we’ll be greeted by a circular camera island that houses a total of four cameras that include a 64 megapixels (f/1.9 aperture) main camera with a large 1/1.7” sensor size, 8 megapixels (f/2.4 aperture) ultra-wide lens with 120 degrees Field-of-View, 2 megapixels (f/2.4 aperture) macro camera, as well as a 2 megapixels (f/2.4 aperture) depth sensor.

Unlike any of the past generation’s Nova series smartphones that were powered by Huawei’s Hisilicon Kirin chipsets, the new Nova 8i is equipped with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 662 chipset under the hood instead.

To support every day’s usage, the Huawei Nova 8i draws power from a respectable 4,300mAh battery that carries support for 66W Huawei SuperCharge which is capable of delivering a full charge from 0 to 100% in merely 38 minutes.

Software-wise, the Huawei Nova 8i is shipped with EMUI 11 (base on Android 10) out of the box. However, it’s likely to be upgradable to Huawei’s proprietary HarmonyOS in the near future.

For those who’re interested, the Huawei Nova 8i will be available in three different colorways including Moonlight Silver, Interstellar Blue, as well as Starry Blue.
