Huawei applied a patent trademark for Huawei Novabuds on Dec. 24 with European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO). This indicates that the company could be soon introducing wireless earbuds under the Nova branding. Huawei has been selling FreeBuds wireless earbuds in China. However, it appears that the Nova branding may carry cheaper earbuds. Moreover, a Chinese tipster has claimed that the Huawei will be spinning off Nova to become an independent brand. The newly spotted Novabuds could be one of the many other products that are expected to sale with Nova branding in the near future.
According to the tipster, Nova brand may soon sell devices such as smartwatch and wireless headphones apart from smartphones. The NovaBuds that has been spotted at EUIPO is categorized Class 9 device that includes products like headphones, earphones, headset for virtual reality games, headphones for mobile phones, in-ear headphones and more.
Earlier this year, Redmi was introduced as a separate brand by Xiaomi. The Realme brand has also separated from OPPO. Vivo has a dedicated iQOO brand for selling gaming-centric phones. Huawei already has Honor sub-brand that caters to the online market. It remains to be seen how Huawei will be positioning the Nova brand.
