Huawei Mate X2 might come during second half of 2020 according to reports

Previously, Huawei’s CEO for Consumer Business Group Richard Yu had revealed that the upgraded Huawei Mate X will be announced during the upcoming MWC 2020. This device is likely to be the Mate Xs which was first mentioned during the Mate X launch event in China.

Shortly after that, a new report out of Taiwan has hinted that the next-generation Mate X will be launched in H2, 2020. Although not officially confirmed, but the 2nd-gen Mate X could possibly be known as the Mate X2.

According to Digitimes, sources had told them that “some of Huawei’s suppliers including those for hinges and panels have begun small-volume trial production for components needed for the new foldable mode”.

However, mass productions of these parts and components is likely to be unavailable until H2, 2020 as noted by the same source.

The introduction of the second-gen Mate X will allow Huawei to maintain it’s leading position in the foldable smartphone market where their main competitor – Samsung Galaxy Fold, is expected to see a new successor next year as well.

Currently, the Huawei Mate X has been selling like hot cakes in the Chinese market. In fact, the device was sold out in less than a minute during the first few round of sales in China.

Sadly, due to the ongoing US trade debacle, the Mate X has yet to reach the global market till date. Previously, a Huawei’s spokesman had told CNBC that a global launch plan is still currently under review.

The main reason attributed to the global delay is probably due to the omission of pre-installed Google Play apps and services on the device. That alone makes it unlikely for consumers to fork out such an astronomical sum of money for the device.
