After all the delays and anticipations, Huawei’s latest flagship offerings – Huawei P50 series – has finally made it’s debut during an official launch event held in it’s home market.
This time round, two different models were unveiled, including the vanilla P50 and the P50 Pro. The rumored P50 Pro+ was surprisingly absent during this event.
Huawei P50 Pro
Starting with the higher-end model, we have the Huawei P50 Pro that’s equipped with a 6.6” curved OLED display that offers a 1,225 x 2,700 pixels screen resolution topped with a smooth 120Hz refresh rate and 300Hz touch sampling rate. More notably, the phone is also IP68-rated for water and dust resistance.
On it’s rear-side, the Huawei P50 Pro is equipped with a revolutionary quad-camera system lead by a 50 megapixels (f/1.8 aperture) main camera with OIS stabilization and a 40 megapixels (f/1.6 aperture) B/W lens.
As for the other two cameras, they include a 13 megapixels (f/2.2 aperture) ultra-wide lens as well as an impressive 64 megapixels (f/3.5 aperture) periscope telephoto lens which is capable of offering up to 3.5x optical zoom, or up to 20x hybrid zoom and 100x digital zoom.
According to Huawei, it’s camera system is aided by a new XD Fusion Pro graphics engine which helps to optimize image clarity and improves overall dynamic range. The Huawei P50 Pro’s camera department will be rounded out by a 13 megapixels (f/2.4 aperture) front-facing camera for selfie and video-calling purposes.
Under the hood, the Huawei P50 Pro is powered by either a Kirin 9000 or Snapdragon 888 chipset. However, both models will only support only 4G connectivity due to the absent of 5G modem within the chipset.
To keep it’s lights on, the Huawei P50 Pro draws power from a respectable 4,360mAh battery with 66W wired charging and 50W wireless charging support. On the software-side, the P50 Pro will be covered by Huawei’s proprietary HarmonyOS 2.0.
For those who’re interested, the Huawei P50 Pro is available in four different colorways namely Golden Black, Cocoa Gold, Pearl White, as well as Charm Pink.
