iQOO 7 officially announced with Snapdragon 888 & 120W flash charging

During a high-profile launch event held in China today, Vivo’s sub-brand iQOO has officially announced the next-generation’s iQOO 7 smartphone which comes with several notable upgrades over its predecessor. Most importantly, its also the second smartphone in the world after the Xiaomi Mi 11 to be powered by the latest Snapdragon 888 chipset.

Starting with the front, the new iQOO 7 comes along with a central hole-punch display that measures 6.62-inches diagonally. It will be an AMOLED display which features FHD+ screen resolution, 120Hz variable refresh rate, 300Hz touch sampling rate, 6,000,000:1 contrast ratio as well as HDR10+ support.

As mentioned earlier, the device is powered by the latest Snapdragon 888 chipset that comes with 5G support for both standalone (SA) and non-standalone (NSA) modes. It is assisted by up to 12GB ultra-fast LPDDR5 RAM, as well as up to 256GB UFS 3.1 flash storage in the memory department.

To enhance the gaming experience of its users, the iQOO 7 features the proprietary Multi-Turbo 5.0 technology which optimizes the phone’s resource for better performance. Likewise, iQOO had also partnered with Monster Audio to develop the device’s Hi-Res dual stereo speakers

In the camera department, the iQOO 7 sports a triple-camera system comprising of a 48 megapixels (f/1.79 aperture) primary shooter with OIS support, 13 megapixels (f/2.2 aperture) ultra-wide lens with 120-degree FoV, as well as a 13 megapixels (f/2.46 aperture) portrait lens. Upfront, there’s also a 16 megapixels (f/2.0 aperture) camera for selfie and video-calling purposes.

At the helm, the iQOO 7 is fueled by a 4,000mAh battery which carries support for 120W FlashCharge capable of delivering a full charge from 0 to 100% in just 15 minutes. Sad to say, the device will not be coming with wireless charging support just like its predecessor.

Interestingly, the device will be shipped with the latest OriginOS based on Android 11 OS out of the box. In terms of pricing, the iQOO 7 is priced at 3,798 Yuan (US$586) and 4,198 Yuan (US$648) respectively for its 8GB+128GB and 12GB+256GB models.
