iQOO 9 series will head to the global market on February 23rd

After launching the iQOO 9 series smartphones in the Chinese market last month, iQOO is now finally launching the smartphone series in the global market on February 23rd, starting with the Indian market.

Recent reports have claimed that the company will be launching three different models including the vanilla iQOO 9, iQOO 9 Pro, as well as a more affordable model known as the iQOO 9 SE.

iQOO 9 Series Launch Date

At the moment, the company has yet to reveal much details pertaining to the handsets, though a recent teaser seems to suggest that the iQOO 9 and iQOO 9 Pro would be coming with a 4,700mAh battery with 120W fast-charging support. Other than that, they are likely to share similar specs as what we saw on the Chinese variants.

iQOO 9 Pro

Starting off with the more expensive model, we have the iQOO 9 Pro which sports a 6.78” Samsung E5 AMOLED (LTPO 2.0) display which offers a super sharp QHD+ screen resolution and a fast 120Hz adaptive refresh rate that makes animations and scrolling felt buttery-smooth.

To sweeten the deal, it also supports a wide 100% DCI-P3 color gamut for accurate color reproduction, as well as an impressive peak brightness of 1,500 nits. Some might be glad to hear that the front display also features a new ultrasonic 3D wide-area fingerprint sensor that’s capable of unlocking the phone in merely 0.2 seconds.

On the rear side, the iQOO 9 Pro had gotten a substantiate facelift which allows us to easily differentiate it from it’s predecessor. In fact, the design of it’s camera housing is quite obviously inspired by last year’s Vivo X70 Pro+ which matches well with the overall design of the phone.

For photography, the phone features triple-camera setup comprising of a 50 megapixels Samsung GN5 main camera with Gimbal-style stabilization system along with another 50 megapixels ultra-wide unit with 150-degree FoV, and finally a 16 megapixels telephoto portrait lens. This will be rounded out by a 16 megapixels front-facing camera for selfies and video calls.

Under the hood, the iQOO 8 Pro is powered by an octa-core Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chipset coupled with up to 12GB RAM and 512GB built-in storage in the memory department. Software-wise, the iQOO 8 series smartphones are the first batch of phones from iQOO to be shipped with the new OriginOS Ocean based on Android 12 OS.

iQOO 9

Moving on to the iQOO 9, this model comes with a 6.78” Samsung E5 AMOLED display which features a slightly toned-down FHD+ screen resolution and 120Hz (non-adaptive) refresh rate. It does however, retains the in-display fingerprint scanner as well as the 16 megapixels front-facing camera.

iQOO 9 Color Options

On the imaging front, the iQOO 9 settles with a triple-cam unit that includes a 50 megapixels Samsung GN5 main camera, 13 megapixels ultra-wide camera as well as a 12 megapixels portrait lens.

Just like it’s Pro counterpart, the iQOO 9 is also powered by a flagship Snapdragon 888 chipset with up to 12GB RAM and 256GB onboard storage. In fact, it’s similarities also extend to the same 4,700mAh battery with 120W fast-charging.
