We’d been hearing a lot of reports since the beginning of the year suggesting that Lenovo is attempting to shut down their ZUK mobile division, in a bid to consolidate their mobile efforts under the Lenovo’s Moto branding.
Although the company has yet to officially confirm the claims, but its seems like the closing is imminent after Lenovo begin redirecting their own Zuk.com domain to motorola.com.cn instead. Obviously, it will not be sensible for them to do this if they’re not planning to shut down the ZUK brand as they’ll only lost valuable traffics – so the reason is pretty clear. In case you missed out, the company has also redirected the bbs.zuk.com domain to club.lenovo.com.cn last month as well.
Sad to say, the ZUK brand is around only for a brief two years during which the company announced several high-end flagships including the ZUK Z1 and ZUK Z2. Even though reports had shown that the company has flared relatively well in the Chinese market, but its still relatively far away from other big brands like Xiaomi and OPPO, which could be the reason why Lenovo had decided to merge it to their Moto branding.
