Lenovo Legion Y90 debuts with Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chipset & 68W fast-charging

Lenovo has officially unveiled a new gaming-centric smartphone known as the Legion Y90 in the Chinese market today which makes it the first major smartphone launch held by the company this year. In terms of specs and pricing, the new Legion Y90 shapes up to be a close competitor to the recent Redmi K50 Gaming Edition smartphone which was launched last month.

Much like most of the flagship models launched this year, the Lenovo Legion Y90 is also backed by the latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chipset which will be supplemented with ample of RAM (up to 18GB) for a super smooth multi-tasking and gaming experience on the phone.

On the front side, the Legion Y90 is fitted with a large 6.92” display which offers a sharp FHD+ screen resolution as well as an adaptive 144Hz refresh rate which automatically switches the refresh rate according to onscreen content. Other than that, there’s also HDR10+ support and a peak brightness of up to 1,300 nits to keep the screen visible even in bright environment.

Of course, as a gaming-focused phone, the Lenovo Legion Y90 also has a super responsive 720Hz touch sampling rate as well as a pair of shoulder buttons to further improve in-game controls. To round things out, there’s also a Z-axis linear motors under the hood which will help in delivering a more immersive gaming experience for it’s users.

Flipping the phone over, we’ll be greeted by a rather similar design language as what we saw on last year’s Lenovo Legion Duel 2. To further extend it’s similarities, it also retains a dual-cam setup comprising of the same 64 megapixels main camera along with a toned-down 13 megapixels ultra-wide unit. For selfie, it does has a 16 megapixels front-facing camera as well.

To keep it’s lights on, the Lenovo Legion Y90 is fitted with a massive 5,600mAh power supply which refuels at an impressive 68W charging speed which can go from 0 to 100% in just 35 minutes. Software-wise, it’s shipped with a custom ZUI 13 based on Android 12 OS out of the box.

For those who’re interested, the Lenovo Legion Y90 is available in two different colorways such as Ultimate Black and Titanium White. Pricing for the phone will kick off at 4,299 Yuan (US$680) in the Chinese market.
