Meizu 17 & 17 Pro goes official with Snapdragon 865, 64MP Quad-cameras & 30W fast charging

After weeks of teasing, the Meizu 17 flagship series finally made their official debut during an online launch event today. These devices are the company’s first 5G offerings and sport a huge upgrade over last year’s Meizu 16s Pro.

Meizu 17 Pro Specifications

As usual, let’s start off with the highest-end model among the duo. This device arrives with a 6.6-inches Super AMOLED display with FHD+ screen resolution. The front display also comes with support for 90Hz screen refresh rate as well as HRD10+. It employs a hole-punched design to accommodate its 20 megapixels selfie camera.

On its back panel, the device has a unique-looking horizontal camera module which houses a quad-camera setup consisting of a 64MP Sony’s IMX686 main camera, 32 megapixels ultra-wide lens with 129 degrees field-of-view, 8 megapixels telephoto lens capable of delivering up to 8x lossless zoom , as well as a Samsung S5K3 3D ToF sensor.

Under the hood, the Meizu 17 Pro is fueled by the latest Snapdragon 865 platform which would allows the device to support both standalone (SA) and non-standalone (NSA) 5G modes. This will be assisted by up to 12GB LPDDR5 RAM and 256GB UFS 3.1 flash storage.

To keep its lights on, there is a huge 4,500mAh battery which comes with 30W fast-charging and 27W wireless charging support. The device will boot on the latest Flyme 8.1 based on Android 10 OS.

In terms of pricing, the Meizu 17 Pro is priced at 4,299 Yuan (US$605) and 4,699 Yuan (US$664) respectively for its 8GB+128GB and 12GB+256GB models.

Meizu 17 Specifications

The Meizu 17 on the other hand, is a more affordable model with slightly toned-down specs. Upfront, the device will maintain a similar display as the Meizu 17 Pro including its screen type and resolution.

At the back however, there will be some significant changes to its quad-cameras system. Unlike its “Pro” version, the Meizu 17 will be touting a 64 megapixels main camera, 12 megapixels secondary shooter, 8 megapixels ultra-wide lens, as well as a 5 megapixels macro camera. More specifically, the telephoto lens is absent on the Meizu 17.

Last but not the least, the Meizu 17 will also be equipped with a watered-down LPDDR4X RAM instead of the latest LPDDR5 RAM found in the Meizu 17 Pro. Other than that, the rest of the specs remain pretty the same.

For those who’re interested, the Meizu 17 is priced at 3,699 Yuan (US$525) and 3,999 Yuan (US$565) respectively for its 8GB+128GB and 8GB+256GB models.
