Redmi 9 Appears on RF Exposure Page, Launch Seems Near

The Redmi 9 budget-friendly smartphone is expected to go official this month. Today, Redmi 9 was found listed on the RF exposure page of the Xiaomi Global’s website. The listing has confirmed the model number of the device.

The RF exposure page has revealed that the model number of the upcoming Redmi 9 is M2004J19C. The same model number was approved by China’s MITT and 3C certification platforms in the recent. The 3C appearance revealed that the phone may ship with a 10W charger.

The predecessor Redmi 8 and Redmi 8A had arrived with support for 18W fast charging. Hence, it will be disappointing to see Redmi offering only 10W charging support on the Redmi 9. M2004J19AG is a variant of the Redmi 9 that was recently approved by EEC authority.

It is speculated that the Redmi 9 could be codenamed as Merlin. The Xiaomi Merlin phone was spotted on Geekbench in March. It had revealed that the phone is equipped with Helio G70 chipset. The Geekbench listing also revealed that the phone is equipped with 6 GB of RAM and it runs on Android 10 OS.

Also, the Xiaomi Merlin appeared on Google Play Console earlier today. The listing mentions that it has a display that produces Full HD+ resolution of 1080 x 2340 pixels and 440ppi pixel density. It also stated that the phone has Helio G70 chipset onboard along with 4 GB of RAM. The only problem with the listing is that the “Redmi 10X” name is mentioned on it which seems to be an error.

Rumors surrounding the Redmi 9 have revealed that it will be arriving with a quad camera setup that will have a 13-megapixel main lens, an 8-megapixel ultrawide shooter, a 5-megapixel macro lens and a 2-megapixel depth sensor. The handset could be available in at least purple and green color editions.
