So far, the mainstream smartphone OEMs in China have launched their flagship phones. OnePlus will be unveiling the OnePlus 8 series of flagship smartphones later today. Recent reports have revealed that Meizu will be announcing the Meizu 17 flagship phone in China in this month. It will be arriving as the company’s first smartphone with 5G capabilities. Today, the company took to Weibo to hint that the Meizu 17 may be made official on April 17.
The poster released by the company today confirms that it will be holding a Meizu 17 related event at 2:30PM on April 17. The Chinese firm is expected to either confirm the launch date of the Meizu 17 or unveil the device during the upcoming event.
The rumor mill has revealed that the Meizu 17 series will include two phones. The vanilla model will be called Meizu 17 and there could be an enhanced edition of the device dubbed as Meizu 17 Pro. A Chinese tipster shared a screenshot to reveal that the Meizu 17 and 17 Pro with model numbers M081M and M091Q have received an important MIIT approval in China.
Meizu 17 Specifications (Rumored)
The Meizu 17 is rumored to be equipped with a 6.5-inch AMOLED display with punch-hole design. The Snapdragon 865 mobile platform will be powering the Meizu 17 smartphone. The SoC is expected to be coupled with LPDDR5 RAM and UFS 3.0 storage.
The rear side of the phone is expected to house a horizontal quad camera system with an LED flash ring at the center of the setup. It is expected to include a 64-megapixel + 8-megapixel (ultrawide) + 5-megapixel (telephoto) + 2-megapixel (depth)quad cameras.
The Meizu 17 could be housing a 4,500mAh battery. The 3C certification of the phone has revealed that it will carry support for 30W fast charging. The handset is expected to arrive with other features like NFC, Wi-Fi 6 and in-display fingerprint reader. The device may carry a price tag of around of 3,999 Yuan for the base model.
It is unclear on how the Meizu 17 Pro differs from the Meizu 17. Hence, it is advisable to wait for further reports to know more on the Meizu 17 and 17 Pro phones.

Be carefull. It is not the event launch but a meeting in which the brand will discuss the tecnnology on Meizu 17. Probably the smartphone won’t be there.
