Meizu Releases 120Hz Refresh Rate Update for Meizu 17

Earlier this month, Meizu unveiled the Meizu 17 and Meizu 17 Pro 5G flagship smartphones in China. Meizu fans expected the series to arrive with 120Hz refresh rate support, but both devices supported the 90Hz refresh rate at launch. Soon after the launch, the company confirmed that it is working on an update to bring support for a higher refresh rate on both smartphones. Today, the company officially confirmed the arrival of the update for Meizu 17 series users.

On May 13, the company released the update that brought 120Hz refresh rate and other features to the media review units of the Meizu 17 Pro. Currently, the Meizu 17 and Meizu 17 Pro phones are only available in China. The new update is now available for general users. Those who do not wish to wait for the OTA update to arrive, they can manually download and install the complete firmware from Flyme’s website.

The update enables support for the 120Hz refresh rate on Meizu 17 and Meizu 17 Pro smartphones. The update also brings along other features like HDR video playback and DC dimming.

Meizu 17 and Meizu 17 Pro Specifications

The Meizu 17 and 17 Pro comes with a full HD+ 6.6-inch S-AMOLED punch-hole display. The Snapdragon 865 SoC fuels both phones and they are backed by 4,500mAh battery. Both phones support 30W fast charging. The Pro model gets 27W wireless charging. The Flyme 8.1 based Android 10 OS runs on the Meizu 17 series.

The Meizu 17 series have 20-megapixel front cameras. The vanilla model has 64-megapixel + 12-megapixel + 8-megapixel + 5-megapixel quad camera system. The Meizu 17 Pro features 64-megapixel + 8-megapixel + 32-megapixel + ToF lens quad cameras.
