Previous reports had revealed that Meizu, the well-known Chinese smartphone manufacturer will split in two firms. It was rumored that the new company that would emerge from the split would be named as Blue Charm. Since a new website with URL – http://mblu.com (not accessible) has been spotted, it appears that the new firm may be called Mblu. Here are some of the screenshots of the new website.
The above images show that some devices like Note 6, E2 and Flow headphones have been listed on the site. According to previous rumors, Meizu may continue to sell high-end phones like Meizu PRO 7 whereas the Mblu may continue to sell mid-range smartphones. Just as Xiaomi and Huawei sell budget-friendly phones respectively through Redmi and Honor branding, MBlu may exist as Meizu’s sub-brand.
It is likely that the Li-Nan, the Vice-President of Meizu will take over as the CEO of Mblu. Rumors have also suggested that the Mblu may feature Snapdragon chipset driven phones whereas Meizu will continue to sell Exynos chipset powered smartphones.
Blue Charm has been a successful brand for Meizu as it has sold 45 million Blue Charm phones including 20 million Blue Charm Note series phones so far. On Dec. 18, Blue Charm will be celebrating its third anniversary. Speculations have it that the new website may become official on the anniversary date.
