Microsoft Surface Duo bags Bluetooth SIG Approval After FCC Certification

Yesterday, the Microsoft Surface Duo was spotted in the database of the Federal Communications Commission (FCC). Now, it has received certification from the Bluetooth SIG authority. These certifications suggest that the Surface Duo may go official as early as next month.

The Bluetooth SIG listing of the Microsoft Surface Duo only reveals support for Bluetooth 5.0. However, it is a vital certification which indicates that its launch may not far away. Devices that appear on Bluetooth SIG’s database are known to go official in a month. Hence, it is likely that the Surface Duo may go official next month.

The FCC listing of the Surface Duo revealed that it runs on Android 10 OS. It was revealed in the FCC documents that the Surface Duo that has two displays will be coming in as many as four configurations. The FCC certification revealed support for major LTE bands in the U.S along with Wi-Fi 802.11ac It is unclear whether the device will come with NFC support. 

Microsoft Surface Duo Specifications

Past reports have revealed that the Microsoft Surface Duo has a pair of 5.6-inch AMOLED displays. When opened, the device can offer a tablet experience with an 8.3-inch screen.

The Snapdragon 855 mobile platform is expected to power the device with 6 GB of RAM. It may arrive in storage choices such as 64 GB, 128 GB, and 256 GB. It has a 3,460mAh battery. For photography, the device is equipped with a 11-megapixel camera. It will come with a fingerprint scanner and the Surface Pen.
