Motorola is one of the smartphone OEMs that does not dealy much in rolling out major Android upgrades. Moreover, it is known for providing near-stock version of Android OS to its handsets. Today, Motorola has officially confirmed the list of smartphones that will be upgraded to Android 8.0 Oreo.
The Android 8.0 Oreo update would be coming to Moto Z, Moto Z Droid, Moto Z Force Droid, Moto Z Play, Moto Z Play Droid, Moto Z2 Play, Moto Z2 Force, Moto X4, Moto G5, Moto G5 Plus, Moto G5S and Moto G5S Plus. The upcoming Moto X4 Android One may also receive the Android 8.0 Oreo update soon after its launch.
It can be seen that Motorola has confirmed that it will be releasing Android 8.0 Oreo updates to its flagship, high-end and mid-range smartphones. The list does not include any budget-friendly phones such as Moto E4, Moto E4 Plus, Moto C and Moto C Plus. Also, the list does not include Moto G4 series phones from last year.
The company has not released any information on the exact timeframe of the rollout of the updates, but has said the software update would be released “this fall.” The above information has been shared by Motorola USA which suggests that that update rollout information mainly pertains to users from that country.
