Motorola has officially announced a new affordable rugged phone known as the Motorola Defy in the European and South American markets where the phone retails at €329 (US$399).
For those who may not know, the Motorola Defy is a product of the recent partnership between Motorola and Bullitt Group, and is in fact the first Defy-branded smartphone released by the company in nearly a decade (since 2012).
Starting with the front, the Motorola Defy features a 6.5” IPS LCD display that offers a HD+ screen resolution and 60Hz screen refresh rate. It comes with a usual dewdrop-notch design to accommodate it’s 8 megapixels front-facing camera for selfie and video-calling purposes.
What’s interesting however, is that the front panel is equipped with a layer of Gorilla Glass Victus which isn’t common among devices within it’s price range. More impressively, the Motorola Defy is IP68-certified as well.
Around it’s rugged back, you’ll get a triple-camera setup that consist of a 48 megapixels main camera, 2 megapixels macro camera, as well as a 2 megapixels depth sensor. On top of that, you also get a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner located slightly below it’s camera array too.
Under the hood, the Motorola Defy is expected to be powered by an octa-core Snapdragon 662 chipset which is likely to be paired with 4GB RAM and 64GB onboard storage in the memory department. Storage capacity as usual, can be further expanded via a microSD card.
To keep it’s lights on, the Motorola Defy draws power from a respectable 5,000mAh battery with 20W fast-charging support. Other than that, the phone also features a 3.5mm headphone jack and is shipped with the company’s proprietary My UX based on Android 11.
