Motorola Schedules May 10 Event, New Edge-Series Phone Incoming?

Today, Motorola released an official confirmation that it will be holding a launch event on May 10 in China. It has only been revealed that “something big, something new” will be coming on the said date. However, it hasn’t confirmed the name of the device that will be announced at its upcoming event. The company has been teasing a new flagship phone for the past few days. It remains to be seen whether it will go official on May 10.

Motorola’s New Edge Series Phone Expected

Several reports have revealed that Motorola is working on a flagship phone that has a “Frontier” codename. This device is expected to arrive as the world’s first smartphone with a Snapdragon 8 Gen 1+ chip onboard. Reports have also claimed that this chip will be unveiled by early May.

Hence, it is likely that Qualcomm’s flagship chip may go official in the next few days. The Frontier phone is expected to debut as an Edge series name. The device is expected to be released in markets outside China with the Motorola Edge 30 Ultra moniker.

Motorola Frontier Specifications (Rumored)

The Motorola Frontier is expected to arrive with a 6.73-inch pOLED FHD+ display that produces a 144Hz refresh rate. It may feature a 60-megapixel front camera and a 194-megapixel (main) + 50-megapixel (ultrawide) + 12-megapixel (telephoto) triple camera unit.

The Snapdragon 8 Gen 1+ chipset will power the device. It will come with up to 12 GB of LPDDR5 RAM and up to 512 GB of UFS 3.1 storage. The device will pack a 4,500mAh battery with 125W fast charging support. It will boot to the Android 12 OS with MIUI 13 on top.

There is a possibility that the May 10 event will not be for unveiling the Frontier phone, but for something else. Hence, it is advisable to wait for further reports to know more about Motorola’s forthcoming event in China.
