New ASUS ROG Phone Officially Teased

Recently, Black Shark started teasing the arrival of the new Black Shark 4 gaming phone. Nubia has also released the first teaser of its upcoming Red Magic gaming smartphone. Now, ASUS has released an official confirmation on the arrival of a new ROG smartphone through its Weibo channel.

Neither the Weibo post nor the text that can be seen in the poster released by ASUS reveals anything on the specs of the next generation ROG phone. Also, it is unclear whether the brand will be calling its next gaming smartphone ROG Phone 4 or ROG Phone 5. One of the reasons behind it is that some Asian brands are known for skipping the number 4 from the names of its devices.

The poster released by the brand suggests that the ROG Phone 4 could be offering a full screen experience. The new phone will be arriving as a successor to the ROG Phone 3 that debuted in July. It can be said that the ROG Phone 4 may offer a higher screen-to-body ratio with reduced top bezel and a slimmer chin compared to the predecessor model.

The ROG Phone 3 came with support a high refresh rate of 144Hz. Probably, the ROG Phone 4 will continue to sport the same refresh rate. It is highly likely that the device could be powered by the Snapdragon 888, which is also expected to fuel the rivalling devices such as Black Shark 4 and Red Magic 6.

In December, a mysterious ASUS phone with model number ASUS_I005DA was spotted at the Geekbench benchmarking platform with Snapdragon 888. The inclusion of the number ‘5’ in the model instead of the number ‘4’ gave birth to rumors that the next ROG handset could be called ROG Phone 5. The Geekbench listing revealed that the new ROG Phone has specs like the Snapdragon 888 chipset, 8 GB of RAM, and Android 11 OS.
