New Nubia Red Magic 5G Gaming Phone with Snapdragon 865 Coming Soon, Confirms Company

On the first day of the year 2020, Nubia Red Magic confirmed through its Weibo account the existence of its first 5G-ready gaming phone. It has released a new poster today through which it is confirmed that the next Red Magic gaming phone will be powered by Snapdragon 865 mobile platform and it will carry support for dual-mode 5G connectivity. The company is expected to soon confirm on the launch date of the Red Magic 5G phone.

At the beginning of December, Qualcomm had launched the Snapdragon 865 mobile platform. At that time, some of the smartphone manufacturers had confirmed that they would be launching SD865 powered phones in 2020. Nubia had also confirmed that the 5G ready Red Magic smartphone with SD865 onboard will debut as soon as early 2020. The phone is said to arrive in India too. However, India may only 4G LTE version as it not a 5G ready country yet.

There are not many 5G ready gaming phones in the market. The iQOO Pro 5G from Vivo that had debuted in August had come with Snapdragon 855+ chipset. However, it wasn’t a dual-mode 5G ready smartphone. The next Red Magic phone may become the first 5G gaming smartphone with support for Standalone (SA) and Non-Standalone (NSA) 5G networks in China. Smartphone manufacturers from China are known to skip number 4 as it is considered as a bad omen. So, it remains to be seen whether the next smartphone from the company will be called Red Magic 4 or Red Magic 5.

As of this writing, there is no word on the specifications of the 5G Red Magic smartphone. The Red Magic 3 had launched in April 2019. However, with a teaser coming on the first day of the year 2020, the next Red Magic phone is likely to get an early launch.
