For the past couple of months, there seem to be an increasing interest on gaming-centric smartphones. Ever since the unveiling of the Razer Phone last year, Chinese smartphone makers had begun to jump on the bandwagon by releasing their own gaming smartphones with Xiaomi being the first, followed by Nubia today.
As expected, the Nubia Red Magic has finally been announced earlier today as an attempt by the Chinese company to go head on with the recently unveiling Xiaomi Blackshark. Although this is the first-ever gaming smartphone from Nubia, but we have to admit, its pretty impressive.
Nubia Red Magic Specifications
First and foremost, the Nubia Red Magic packs a 6-inches FHD+ display that has a 18:9 tall aspect ratio. The device is powered by last year’s Snapdragon 835 SoC, which according to Nubia, is the best chip to sustain performance without throttling. In its memory compartment, there is 6GB/ 8GB worth of RAM and 64GB/ 128GB internal storage space.
As for its camera, it comes with a decent 24 megapixels main snapper with f/1.7 aperture, as well as a 8 megapixels front-facing selfie cam. Under the hood, there is also a 3,800mAh non-removable battery which support hours of continuous gaming on the go.
Of course, what set the Nubia Red Magic apart from the typical smartphones is its unique air-cooling technology that keep the device cool even under heavy usage condition. Similarly, the device also sports a dedicated button dubbed as Gameboost which can not only boot the Red Magic into a powerful gaming mode (high performance), but also improve the user’s gaming experience by disabling calls or various notifications which could otherwise obstruct the game play.
