Xiaomi has finally announced the long-rumored Redmi Pad tablet which will take on the likes of other budget-centric slates such as the recently unveiled OPPO Pad Air and Realme Pad Mini to name a few.
The new Redmi Pad comes with a large 10.6” LCD display featuring a FHD+ screen resolution, 90Hz refresh rate as well as a peak brightness that goes up to 400 nits when using the tablet in a bright environment. It’s a fairly sleek tablet sporting an impressive thickness of just 7.1mm and weighs merely 465 grams.
Imaging-wise, the tablet features an 8 megapixels rear snapper while selfies and video conferencing will be taken care by another 8 megapixels front-facing camera which sits along the upper bezel (when the slate is held horizontally).
Under the hood, the Redmi Pad is powered by an octa-core MediaTek Helio G99 chipset which will be paired with up to 6GB RAM and 128GB onboard storage that can be further expanded via a microSD card.
To provide users with a more immersive entertainment experience, the tablet is also equipped with a quad-speaker system with Dolby Atmos support which allows users to enjoy high-quality surround sound.
Keeping it’s lights on is none other than a large 8,000mAh battery which according to Xiaomi, is able to support more than 21 hours video playback or 12 hours gaming on a single charge. Likewise, there’s also 18W fast-charging support onboard which isn’t really common among budget tablets.
Those who’re interested can pick the tablet from three different colors such as Graphite Grey, Moonlight Silver and Mint Green. Pricing for the Redmi Pad kicks off from just INR12,999 ($159) for it’s 3GB+64GB trim and goes up to INR19,999 ($245) for the top-of-the-line model with 6GB+128GB setup.
