Earlier today, OnePlus had announced via their forum that the Chinese company may be forced to raise the price of their latest OnePlus 3 device following the period of uncertainty leading for the Brexit a few days back.
We’ve always strived to create the best product and deliver them to customers at a reasonable price. However, the worrying downward trend of the GBP may make it difficult to maintain our current pricing structure in the UK. Our margins have always been thin, and our expenses are mainly in USD. This being the case, sudden drops such as the one that the Pound has recently experienced could have a direct impact on our prices.
In the similar post, the company also recommends interested parties to purchase the device sooner rather than later, before the price change kicks in.
Although the changes may be undesirable to many, but we have to keep in mind that the company’s motive of the price hike is definitely not to gain more profit from the users, but rather to avoid selling the device at a loss.
To be fair, this is only the second time the company is raising the price of their flagship. The previous time the company does so is during the begining of 2015, when the Euro was at a nine=year-low against the dollar.
