The OnePlus 9 series was announced globally on March 23 and a dedicated launch event was held for it in China on the next day. As scheduled, the OnePlus 9 series went on sale for the first time in the home market on March 30. The company has now confirmed that in the first sale, the OnePlus 9 lineup surpassed the 300 million Yuan mark in 10 seconds.
In China, the OnePlus 9 models such as 8 GB RAM + 128 GB storage and 12 GB RAM + 256 GB storage are priced at 3,799 Yuan ($578) and 4,299 Yuan ($654), respectively. On the other side, the OnePlus 9 variants like 8 GB RAM + 128 GB storage, 8 GB RAM + 256 GB storage, and 12 GB RAM + 256 GB storage are priced at 4,999 Yuan ($760), 5,499 Yuan (~$837), and 5,999 Yuan ($913). Hence, it appears that it took only 10 seconds for the company to sell around 50,000 to 78,970 units of the OnePlus 9 series in its first sale in China.
OnePlus 9 and OnePlus 9 Pro Specifications
The OnePlus 9 has a 6.55-inch flat AMOLED screen that offers FHD+ resolution, whereas the OnePlus 9 Pro has a 6.7-inch AMOLED QHD+ display with curved edges. Both phones support a 120Hz refresh rate. The Snapdragon 888 SoC fuels the OnePlus 9 duo with LPDDR5 RAM and UFS 3.1 storage.
The OnePlus 9 and 9 Pro feature a 16-megapixel front camera. The vanilla model has a 48-megapixel + 50-megapixel + 2-megapixel triple camera system, whereas the Pro version gets an extra 8-megapixel telephoto lens. The OnePlus 9 series has a 4,500mAh battery that supports 65W fast charging. The OnePlus 9 supports 15W wireless charging, whereas the 9 Pro is equipped with 50W fast wireless charging.
All the predecessor OnePlus phones came with HydrogenOS UI based Android OS in China. However, the OnePlus 9 and 9 Pro are the first phones to land in the home market with ColorOS 11 flavored Android 11 OS. Their global variants are running on OxygenOS based Android 11 OS.
