Earlier today, the Vivo Y31s became the first smartphone in the world that runs on the latest Snapdragon 480 chipset. The interesting thing about the Snapdragon 480 chipset is that its actually the first Snapdragon 4-series chip that comes along with 5G connectivity. Much like some of the MediaTek Dimensity 700-series chips, the Snapdragon 480 is largely targeted towards budget 5G devices.
Right now, it seems like there will soon be a new smartphone from OPPO which will be adopting the same chipset as well. This device with model number OPPO PEHT00 had already made its appearance on Geekbench 5 along with its crucial specs which also include 8GB RAM and the latest Android 11 OS.
In terms of performance, the device scores 522 points and 1,531 points respectively for its single-core and multi-cores benchmark tests which is quite comparable to the scores obtained by smartphones powered by the Dimensity 720 chip.
As of now, there isn’t any information pertaining to the identity of this upcoming OPPO smartphone. However, it is most likely to be part of OPPO’s A-series lineup this year. In fact, the same device had also recently appeared on Chinese 3C database which revealed that it’ll be coming with 18W fast-charging support.
Other than the OPPO PEHT00, we can expect to see more Snapdragon 480-powered smartphones from other OEMs in the next couple of months as well.
