OPPO has announced a new OPPO Reno5 Marvel Edition smartphone in the Indonesian market which will go on sale starting March 15th at a price of 5,699,000 Rupiah (US$397). However, an invitation code is actually required in order to purchase this highly coveted handset.
Although the OPPO Reno5 Marvel Edition shares the same specs as the regular OPPO Reno5 4G (note that its not a 5G model), but it features a redesigned back panel with futuristic colour accents and the iconic Avenger Alliance logo which looks way fancier than the regular models.
As usual, there’s also a specially curated retail box which brings along a Marvel-themed phone casing, earphone and charging brick. Software-wise, you can also expect to see an Avenger-themed UI skin atop the ColorOS 11.1 (based on Android 11 OS).
In terms of specs, the OPPO Reno5 Marvel Edition retains the same 6.43-inches FHD+ AMOLED display that brings along a smooth 90Hz refresh rate as well as an in-display fingerprint scanner. Unlike the OPPO Reno5 Pro (Review) which comes with a curved display, the Reno5 4G settles for a flat panel instead.
For photography, the Reno5 4G retains the same quad-camera system which features a 64 megapixels (1.7 aperture) primary shooter, 8 megapixels (f/2.2 aperture) ultra-wide lens, 2 megapixels (f/2.4 aperture) macro camera, as well as a 2 megapixels (f/2.4 aperture) depth sensor. This will be accompanied by a 44 megapixels selfie camera upfront.
Under the hood, the OPPO Reno5 4G will be powered by an octa-core Snapdragon 720G chipset which is also currently used in the OPPO Reno4 Pro (Review). As such, it will not be coming with 5G connectivity unlike the Reno5 5G which is powered by a slightly more powerful Snapdragon 765G chipset. Keeping its lights on will be a 4,310mAh battery which carries support for 50W SuperVOOC flash charging solution.
