OPPO Reno5 series officially announced with breathtaking design

Although the OPPO Reno4 series was only announced less than four months ago in the global market, but that doesn’t stops the Chinese smartphone giant from launching the next-generation’s Reno series smartphones in the Chinese market today.

As expected, the OPPO Reno5 and Reno5 Pro are the stars of today’s launch event. However, there’ll be another higher-end model known as the OPPO Reno5 Pro+ which will be announced slightly later on December 24th.

Diving into the specifics, both the OPPO Reno5 and Reno5 Pro duo will be equipped with a FHD+ AMOLED panel with 90Hz refresh rate. The only notable differences are that the vanilla Reno5 will arrive with a slightly smaller 6.43-inches flat display with 430 nits peak brightness, while the “Pro” model settles for a 6.55-inches curved display with a peak brightness of 500 nits.

To start the ball rolling, the Reno5 series devices are furnished with a refreshed “Reno Glow 2.0” star diamond patterned design which shines and shift colors under different angles of light. On top of that, its rear camera housing also features a layer of fluorescent coating that allows it to literally glow in the dark.

Coming to the rear cameras, both the Reno5 and Reno5 Pro will share the same quad camera system comprising of a 48 megapixels (1.7 aperture) primary shooter, 8 megapixels (f/2.2 aperture) ultra-wide lens, 2 megapixels (f/2.4 aperture) macro camera, as well as a 2 megapixels (f/2.4 aperture) depth sensor. This will be accompanied by a 32 megapixels selfie snapper upfront.

Under the hood, the OPPO Reno5 is driven by an octa-core Snapdragon 765G chipset while the Reno5 Pro on the other hand opted for a more powerful MediaTek Dimensity 1000+ chip. Both devices are capable of supporting 5G connectivity in both standalone (SA) and non-standalone (NSA) modes. However, only the Reno5 Pro will be coming with NFC support.

To keep the lights on, the OPPO Reno5 is equipped with a 4,300mAh battery while the Reno5 Pro has a slightly larger 4,350mAh battery. Both devices will carry support for the company’s proprietary 65W SuperVOOC 2.0 flash charging support. On the software-side, the Reno5 series devices will boot on the latest ColorOS 11 based on Android 11 out of the box.
