On Monday, Google took off covers from the Google Pixel 4a. The Snapdragon 730G fueled smartphone is priced at $349. At the unveil event, the company revealed that the Google Pixel 4a (5G) priced at $499 and Pixel 5 will be made available for purchase by fall. Apart from the two devices, Google seemingly has no other Pixel device planned for this year. A new report on 9to5Google claims that it has received an internal document that mentions about the Android builds for the devices coming in 2021. It reveals that the company could be having plans to launch a foldable phone among other devices.
Upcoming Google Pixel phones that are found in AOSP always have their codenames based on fish names. However, in the internal document they are mentioned as Barbette, Raven, Oriole, and Passport.
The Barbette name mentioned for the Pixel 5a phone. It also mentioned the launch time frame of the device is second quarter of 2021. Hence, the Pixel 4a is likely to succeed the Pixel 4a.
The Raven and Oriole names seems to belong to the Pixel 6 series as they are mentioned as first-party devices. The publication has speculated that the Passport device could be the Pixel branded foldable smartphone. These devices are mentioned to arrive in Q4 2021.
The publication claims that the list mainly pertains to Android develop. There is no guarantee that devices mentioned in the list will go official in 2021. It can be seen the cancelled Muskie model that was a Pixel 2 XL prototype is also mentioned in the list.
