The wait is over! Nubia has officially announced the feverishly-anticipated Red Magic 5G flagship during an online launch event this evening. As expected, this device has lived up to our expectations and will definitely be a worthy competitor to the recently announced Black Shark 3 Pro.
An immersive graphical experience
The Red Magic 5G features a 6.65-inches FHD+ AMOLED display which has a buttery-smooth 144GHz screen refresh rate as well as an impressive touch sampling rate of 240Hz.
In fact, it is the first smartphone in the world to debut with a buttery-smooth 144GHz screen refresh rate which is certainly a huge upgrade over the iQOO 3 5G and Black Shark 3 Pro which only supports 60GHz and 90GHz refresh rate respectively.
Superior gaming performance
Under the hood, the Red Magic 5G is driven by the latest octa-core Snapdragon 865 SoC which is paired with a powerful Adreno 650 GPU. In the memory compartment, there is also up to 16GB worth of LPDDR5 RAM and 256GB UFS 3.0 flash storage.
As with other gaming smartphones, the Nubia Red Magic 5G is also equipped with the company’s proprietary PC-grade cooling technology known as ICE 3.0. This includes an in-built cooling fan capable of reaching 15,000 RPM to ensure that heat is able to dissipate rapidly under intense gaming conditions.
Furthermore, the Red Magic 5G also features the capacitive shoulder buttons with 300Hz sampling rate which could be customized for use during game plays. This will definitely provides you with a competitive edge over your opponents as it will offer users much better control.
Powerful cameras
Although the device is a gaming-centric smartphone, but that doesn’t mean that it’s cameras will be compromised.
The Red Magic 5G will still be equipped with an impress triple-camera setup comprising of a 64 megapixels main shooter, 8 megapixels ultra-wide lens, as well as a 2 megapixels macro lens. This will be completed with an 8 megapixels selfie camera at the front.
Huge battery with fast-charging
The Red Magic 5G will be fueled by a hefty 4,500mAh battery which supports up to 55W fast-charging that could bring the device from 0 to 100% within a short span of just 40 minutes.
On the software-end, the device will boot on the company’s own Redmagic OS based on Android 10.

In the Chinese market, the Red Magic 5G will be priced as follows:
- 8GB+128GB: 3,799 Yuan (US$540)
- 12GB+128GB: 4,099 Yuan (US$583)
- 12GB+256GB: 4,399 Yuan (US$626)
- 16GB+256GB: 4,999 Yuan (US$711)
As of now, there is still no words on it’s global availability. However, it will go on sale starting March 19th in China.
