Redmi 8 Unveiled in India; Specifications and Price

The Xiaomi Redmi 8 smartphone has gone official in India. It has arrived as an enhanced version of the Redmi 8A phone that was announced last month. The handset has arrived with an attractive starting price tag of Rs. 7,999.

Redmi 8 Specifications and Features

The Redmi 8 comes with P2i nano-coated splash-proof polycarbonate chassis. It has a 6.2-inch IPS LCD display that produces 720 x 1520 pixels HD+ resolution and a tall aspect ratio of 19:9. The Redmi 8A smartphone features the Snapdragon 439 SoC. The same SoC is found inside the Redmi 8. The smartphone comes with up to 4 GB of RAM. It offers users with up to 64 GB of storage. For additional storage, the phone users with a dedicated memory card slot.

The rear shell of the phone feature a fingerprint scanner. Above it is a vertical dual camera setup that includes a 12-megapixel Sony IMX363 primary lens and a depth sensor of 2-megapixel along with an LED flash. An AI powered 8-megapixel selfie camera that also doubles up as face unlock is available on the device.

The Redmi 8 has a 5,000mAh battery that supports 18W fast charging through USB-C. The MIUI 10 based Android 9 Pie OS runs on the device.

Redmi 8 Price in India

The Redmi 8 will be available for buying through Flipkart, Mi.com and Mi Home from Oct. 12 in India. The 3 GB RAM + 32 GB storage and 4 GB RAM + 64 GB storage of the Redmi 8 respectively cost Rs. 7,999 ($112) and Rs. 8,999 ($126). Xiaomi will be selling the first 5 million units of 4 GB RAM variant with a reduced price of Rs. 7,999 in the country.
