India was the first market to receive the Redmi 8A entry-level smartphone back in September. Today, the company unveiled a new phone named Redmi 8A Dual in the country. It is basically the same Redmi 8A phone with an updated rear design, a new dual camera setup and different color variants.
Redmi 8A Specifications
The Redmi 8A had arrived with a textured rear. The design was dubbed as Aura Wave Grip. The newly unveiled Redmi 8A Dual has a mesh textured back panel and its design is called Aura X Grip which promises better grip.
The Redmi 8A had featured a single camera of 12-megapixel on its back. The Redmi 8A Dual comes with an AI powered 13-megapixel + 2-megapixel dual camera setup that brings features like Google lens, AI scene detection and AI portrait mode. The phone supports VoWiFi out-of-the-box. The Redmi 8A Dual comes in color editions such as Sky White, Sea Blue and Midnight Grey. The rest of the specs of the phone are same as Redmi 8A
The Redmi 8A has a 6.22-inch IPS LCD display with waterdrop notch. It supports HD+ resolution. The MIUI 11 flavored Android 10 OS is loaded on the phone. It has a selfie camera of 8-megapixel. The device has a 5,000mAh battery which supports 18W fast charging. The handset ships with a 10W charger. The Redmi 8A Dual can be used for reverse charging other devices. It lacks a fingerprint reader.
Redmi 8A Pricing
The Redmi 8A Dual comes in 2 GB RAM + 32 GB storage for Rs. 6,499 ($91) and 3 GB RAM + 32 GB storage for Rs. 6,999 ($98). The Redmi 8A had also come with same variants and pricing. Hence, the Redmi 8A could be phased out or it may sell with a lower pricing. The first sale of Redmi 8A Dual will be held on Feb. 18 in India.
