Redmi 9 sold out during first flash sale in Malaysia

Yesterday, the much awaited Redmi 9 smartphone finally went on its first flash sale in Malaysia. However, according to Xiaomi Malaysia, the device was quickly sold out within a short span of just 30 minutes.

During the flash sale, the 3GB+32GB variant of the device was given further price cut from RM499 (US$117) to RM449 (US$105). Its worth noting that the pricing in the Asian markets in considerably cheaper than its launch price in the European markets where the similar 3GB+32GB model retails for €149 (US$167).

For those who’d missed out, the Redmi 9 features a 6.53-inches dewdrop-notch LCD display which boast an impressive FHD+ screen resolution along with a decent 8 megapixels sensor for selfies and video-calling purposes.

Over at the back, there will be a quad-cameras setup consisting of a 13 megapixels main camera, 8 megapixels ultra-wide lens, 5 megapixels macro camera, as well as a 2 megapixels depth helper. A rear-mounted fingerprint sensor is present at the back as well.

Under the hood, the device is driven by an octa-core Helio G80 SoC designed by MediaTek. This will be assisted by up to 4GB RAM and 64GB onboard storage in the memory compartment. As usual, the storage capacity could further be expandable by up to 512GB via a microSD card as well.

At the helm, the Redmi 9 will be fitted with a huge 5,020mAh battery which is capable of supporting 18W fast-charging. According to Xiaomi, the colossal battery is able to support up to 171 hours of music playback as well as 19 hours of video playback. On the software-side, the device will be shipped with the latest MIUI 10 based on Android 10 OS.
