Although the Redmi 8 is barely three months old, but it’s predecessor is already coming in a couple of months time. To be more specific, it is said to arrive in early 2020 according to 91Mobiles.
Unlike the current Redmi 8, the upcoming Redmi 9 will be driven by a Mediatek’s Helio G70 SoC instead of a Snapdragon chip. The Helio G70 SoC has yet to be announced, but it is expected to be positioned below the current Helio G90 and G90T in terms of performance.
This time round, the Redmi 9 will feature a slightly larger 6.6-inch Dot Notch display, as well as a minimum of 4GB RAM and 64GB onboard storage space under the hood.
The device is expected to make it’s official debut first in China during Q1 2020, followed by an official launch in the Indian market. Besides the Redmi 9, we are also likely to see alternative variants including a “Pro” version of the device in the near future as well.
Previously, the Redmi 8 was priced at Rs. 8,999 (US$126) for it’s 4GB+64GB model. We do expect the upcoming Redmi 9 to come with around the same affordable price point as well.
