Xiaomi has officially announced Redmi’s first-ever gaming smartphone known as the Redmi K40 Gaming Edition in the Chinese market that comes along with a multitude of gaming-centric features for an more immersive and entertaining gaming experience.
For starter, the Redmi K40 Gaming Edition features a 6.67” AMOLED display that offers a FHD+ screen resolution that’s topped with a buttery-smooth 120Hz refresh rate and 360Hz touch sampling rate.
On top of that, the phone is also HDR10+ certified and carries support for 10-bit color depth and DCI-P3 color gamut. What’s interesting is that the device actually has a set of retractable shoulder buttons, which allow customized controls during gaming.
In the camera department, the Redmi K40 Gaming Edition relies on a triple-camera system at the back which is lead by a 64 megapixels main camera, 8 megapixels ultra-wide camera, as well as a 2 megapixels macro camera. This will be accompanied by a 16 megapixels shooter upfront for selfie and video-calling purposes.
Under the hood, the Redmi K40 Gaming Edition is powered by an octa-core MediaTek Dimensity 1200 chipset which will be paired with up to 12GB RAM and 256GB onboard storage. To deliver a smooth and consistent performance, the phone is also equipped with a dedicated “LiquidCool” vapour chamber technology to keep the phone’s temperature down during intense gaming runs.
To sweeten the deal, the Redmi K40 Gaming Edition also comes along with JBL-tuned stereo speakers with Hi-Res audio certification and Dolby Atmos support that promise users a high quality audio experience.
At the helm, the phone is backed by a massive 5,065mAh battery which carries support for 67W fast-charging that’s capable of delivering a full charge from 0 to 100% within a short span of just 42 minutes.
In the Chinese market, the Redmi K40 Gaming Edition is available in several memory configurations which are priced at:
- 6GB+128GB – 1,999 Yuan (US$308)
- 8GB+128GB – 2,199 Yuan (US$339)
- 8GB+256GB – 2,399 Yuan (US$370)
- 12GB+128GB – 2,399 Yuan (US$370)
- 12GB+256GB – 2,699 Yuan (US$416)
For those who’re interested, the device will go for its debut sale in the Chinese market on April 30th.
