Redmi K40 Pro May Debut with Redmi K40 Featuring a New Sub-Flagship Chip

Redmi will be launching the Redmi K40 series of smartphones in February with a starting price of 2,999 Yuan ($463). The company has already confirmed that the device will be equipped with Snapdragon 888 mobile platform. Hence, it is likely that the SD888 powered phone could be launching as the Redmi K40 Pro. However, there is confusion surrounding the other model that is expected to launch alongside the K40 Pro. Today, a tipster from China shed some information on the K40 models that are expected to go official in February.

According to the tipster, the Redmi K40 Pro will have Snapdragon 888 and it will start at 2,999 Yuan ($463) and there will be a lower K40 model that will be driven by an unannounced “sub-flagship processor”. It appears that the tipster could be claiming that it is equipped with an upper mid-range chip. The tipster did not reveal the pricing of this model.

Redmi K40 first poster-

A Weibo post released by Redmi Product Director Wang Teng Thomas yesterday suggested that there could be another K40 model apart from the Snapdragon 888 powered handset. Probably, the Xiaomi executive might have hinted at the arrival of the sub-flagship processor powered K40 model.

MediaTek will be announcing new chipsets tomorrow. It is speculated that the new chipsets from the Taiwanese company could be called Dimensity 1200 and Dimensity 1100. Rumors have it that the 6nm MediaTek MT6893 chipset that has been in the rumors for the past few weeks may finally debut with Dimensity 1200 moniker.

The Dimensity 1100 is said to be a toned-down version of the Dimensity 1200 chip. It remains to be seen whether the Redmi K40 arrives with Dimensity 1100 or 1200 SoC.
