Redmi General Manager Lu Weibing confirmed that Redmi will be launching a new K50 series phone in August in China. Through its Weibo account, the company confirmed today that it will be showing off the Redmi K50 Extreme Edition this month.
The poster confirms that the Redmi K50 Extreme Edition will be equipped with the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chipset. It appears that the company will confirm the launch date of the device in the next few days.
For several weeks, the rumor mill has been claiming that Redmi is working on a Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 powered phone called the K50s Pro or K50 Ultra. The poster released by the brand suggests that this device will actually be called the Redmi K50 Extreme Edition.
Recently, a Redmi device with a 22081212C model number was spotted at certification sites such as CMIIT, 3C, and TENAA in China. The said device also appeared on AnTuTu benchmarks earlier today.
Redmi K50 Extreme Edition Specifications (Rumored)
The Redmi K50 Extreme Edition is likely to feature a 120Hz OLED display that offers a Full HD+ resolution. It will have a 20-megapixel selfie camera and a 200-megapixel (main) + 8-megapixel (ultra-wide) + 2-megapixel (macro) triple camera system. The Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 powered device may arrive with up to 8 GB / 12 GB of LPPDR5 RAM and 256 GB of native storage. It will come preloaded with the Android 12 OS with MIUI 13 on top.
Rumours are rife that the device will also get a global release. It is speculated to launch with the Xiaomi 12T Pro moniker by September in the global market.
