In October, Redmi is expected to announce the K90 series of smartphones, which may include the K90 and K90 Pro, in China. Recent reports have suggested that the K90 Pro could be a significant upgrade over its previous generation. Today, reliable tipster Digital Chat Station published a Weibo post to reveal key details about the Pro variant.
Redmi K90 Pro key details leaked
As per the above Weibo post, the Redmi K90 Pro will feature the SM8850 chip, a periscope telephoto camera, a metal middle frame, symmetrical dual speakers, an ultrasonic in-screen fingerprint sensor, and a large X-axis linear motor.
For those who are unaware, the SM8850 is the model number of the Snapdragon 8 Elite 2, which is expected to debut in September this year. The Xiaomi 16 series, which is rumoured to launch by the end of September, could be the first phone to feature the new chip.
The Redmi K80 Pro from last year featured a 50-megapixel telephoto camera, but with a periscope telephoto camera, the K90 Pro is expected to offer improved zooming capabilities. There is a possibility that the device may feature the new OmniVision OV50Q 50-megapixel periscope telephoto camera backed by a 1/1.3-inch sensor.
Other reports have revealed that the Redmi K90 Pro will feature a 6.59-inch RGB OLED LTPS flat display. The screen is expected to support a 2K resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. It will come preloaded with HyperOS 3.0-based Android 15.
Redmi’s K-series phones are confined to the Chinese market. However, some of the K-series models are released as Poco F-series phones in markets outside of China. Therefore, the K90 and K90 Pro are expected to be rebranded as the Poco F8 Pro and F8 Ultra globally.
